Another pro has asked to come and help this year. Cowboy Kenny Bartram, will be here mon-thur. FCA rules does not allow him to do his extreme jumps. But if you check his bio you will see he is a respectable racer also. This makes 7 pro racer teaching at this years FCA camp. Don’t miss your chance call Jim Feagan or Todd Smith today. See our home page

6-19-10  We got rain last night but we have been stiring it until dry. We will chisel deep in the morning and the track will be in great shape. 5-24-10 Monday, Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone for attending races on Sunday.

5-22-10 Saturday, track is open for practice today, didn’t end up getting to much rain so we will have a great track for races on Sunday, hope to see you here. Thanks Chad.

5-20-10 Thursday, prep track for tonight is unlikely as it is raining again, we were able to get track worked and packed before it started so it will be great for weekend races. F.C.A. camp looks to be another good one as Andrew Short, Ryan Morais, Throttle Jockey, Moto Concepts, and Ryan Sipes will be just a few of the great instructors attending this year call and make arrangements for your child to attend as space is limited. Hope to see you all this weekend for our season Moto x opener, been a LONG winter lets race. Thanks, Chad.

5-18-10  Tuesday, finally stopped raining… This is Chad I will be working here at the track full time now and trying to make more improvements to the tracks and trails. Recently there was a new section built in place of the old rytheme section it still needs a little work but I believe it will be a fun, safe section for riders of all skill levels. We will be having prep track on thurs and fri if riders turn out for these prep track days we will continue this for the season otherwise it will be weekends only so get out here and enjoy!!!

5-15-10 Saturday, We had spotty rain during the day. Had a hare scramble light turn out, was a make up race. Regular scheduled hare scramble tomorrow. Moto x track was great today, we will again work tomorrow. Come try new triple-triple. Weather forcast looking good for next weeks moto x. large course set up for tomorrow don’t miss it.

5-12-10 Wednesday, we have received some rain this week but less than ¾ inch so far. Most has soaked in and river has not raised much. Weather is looking good for Hare Scrambles this Sat and Sun. Trails will be closed to day riding during events. Track is open both days will work track both mornings.

5-07-10 Friday no rain been reworking woop section. It is now a triple-triple. Will be a challenge for A riders and B&C will have to work on it. All trails open this weekend, river is down. Hare scramble next Sat & Sunday 15-16. Barricks open to use at no charge. Has showers and bathrooms, bring your own blankets and pillow. next moto x race is 5-23 I think you will like what we do to track by then.

4-29-10  I have not been able to work on the track as I have wanted because of almost 4 inches of rain since Friday. We will be redoing much of the track before I want to open for racing this year. We are in the middle of moving the start gates and building a different Quad track. And on top of all this, there is a strong chance of rain Friday Sat and Sun. We will be also making sand sections. I want to offer a better track than we have now to open. The Ponca Qualifier will move to June 6. don’t forget that Casey will also be have 3 Qualifiers 5-8/9/31  we hope to open 5-23 weather permitting. Please let other know of this cancellation so they can make other plans. Leroy

4-24-10  We got wet. The hare scramble is CANCELLED for Sunday. We have gotten 2inches the past 24 hours and we believe condition is not acceptable to race. We have talked with Jay Hall to reschedule for May 15. Our next scheduled h/s is May 16. We hope to have a Sat and Sunday Dist 17 event. The bunk house will be available for free to anyone wishing to stay overnight. It has 4 dorm rooms-20 beds in each with bathrooms and showers. You will need your own bed covers or sleep bags. We will have a evening meal available and bon fire. No charge for overnight camping unless you need elect. Hope you will plan on this visit should be a good time. This event is 2 separate points race. Leroy

4-23-10 Friday and we had ¾ inches of rain last night and things look good for a hare scramble as of 2;30 pm there still may be a chance for scattered showers Sat and Sun it has been very dry and all rain so far went into the fields. The river has not raised. The river will be the deciding factor as to running on Sunday. The moto x track should also be good for the weekend. It is always open during a hare scramble event. So far we are good for Sunday event

4-21-10 I can not be leave I am saying we could use some rain on our trails. It has been 2 years of rain. It is so dry the mushrooms did not hardly come up. They are calling for rain this weekend so I may be sorry for this statement. It will take over two inches before we would cancel the Hare Scramble race on Sunday. We know there was mistakes made at our last scramble, last year, the track for the small riders was terrible. We have been working the trails and have made the 50-65 track already. It is in the woods but we have disked and worked out all ruts. We have cut the trees away on the main trail and worked with a scrapper box and skid steer. The ruts had gotten out of hand and downed trees were  a problem. We have a large trail for this weekend and is side by side friendly. We will continue to improve the trail system but we have already made a big improvement. Call or check this site Saturday for updates for Sunday.

4-5-10 The season is fast approaching. The trails are rutted and we will be grooming these as soon as dry enough.  I have been keeping the track in good shape. Have layed out another quad track next to the present one. Started moving the gates to the new start area. Wanting to build a flat track if anyone wants to suggest the size, under the new lights. We are looking for paid help during events this year. Illness has caused a few to not be able to this year. Looks like a good weekend here in the 70s.

4-3-10  Saturday night had rain last night just right to water track. It will be great on Sunday. We will be open from 9am to 5pm on Sunday come on out before or after dinner, weather looks great.

4-1-10  No April fools it has been a great day. We will be open Good Friday. I will close the track around 5pm to get it ready for possible rain Sat morning.  We will be open Sunday also. It will be best to call for track condition Sat afternoon and Sunday 217-237 –4752. Start up has been tough this spring, but starting to get control.

3-19-10 IT is Friday! Weather is great today. Chad worked the track yesterday and was in very good shape. Nice and loose, there is a lot of riders today. Chance of rain Saturday but calling for after 7pm, Sunday don’t look good. Jim Bishop has been banking the turns and squaring them up with the jumps. We are moving the gates to the infield where we have been starting, We are working on the trails as weather permits. We will get them back in shape. Looking forward to spring. Leroy

3-13-10 Saturday. We have a few local riders today, we have been telling everyone it is not a good day to ride. I know a business doesn’t normally tell customer to stay home, but we want you to enjoy your visits. I am watching the radar and it looks like more rain later today. I will work the track in the morning and should be good late morning. Some times the track is not as you want but there is many different opinions as to what makes a good track. We strive to provide a loose moist track for bikes. Quads like a harder and packed track. For now we have the Quads and bikes on the same track. We have started another Quad track next to the existing moto x track. It will be longer than the one we built last year, I hope you will like it. The last track will be open to everyone, the bikes liked it. I am making a wide trail around the entire area with an excavator that will allow better access to improve trails. This will allow side by sides better access. The river is again out of its banks so trails are limited. Our priority this spring is. Improving trails-making a Quad track- re working Moto x track with changes. Time change tomorrow so more time in evenings. See you soon

3-4-10 The sun has been shining all day. I was able to run the cultivator over the track today, some frost but it worked up great. Will work it again tomorrow and for Sat & Sunday. Weather looks like no rain until Monday. Trails will be wet and frozen in the woods, river in its banks. Someone lost a 750 quad through the ice on the river, come see if you can help find it. Several calls from Wisconsin. Be sure and bring oil and parts, we have not stocked up for spring yet. So come and enjoy a great track and trails. Quads allowed on big track for now. Call for details anytime. Leroy

2-28-10 It has been a beautiful weekend. I have been putting chips on the track. There has been several bikes and quads on the track today. I will be getting the track ready for riding next weekend, the weather looks good. Track should be great. Be sure and call this time of year. The river has been high and trails have been limited. It should be back in its banks but it will be muddy next weekend. MX and HS races are posted but not the 4 Suzuki Contengency Dates. Also we will be having a Great Outdoors weekend June 12-13 this will be an introduction to archery, bb gun shooting trap shooting, fishing and atv safty. All kids 5-15 will receive a free Zebco rod and reel. You must register for this clinic. Several calls from Wisconsin for next week, so get your toys out and we will be ready for you.

2-5-10 I hope you are all surviving winter. We have been slow at the park with this weather. On a sad note, Mike Wisemans wife passed away this last week. Mike helped us with parts at the Roost. Prayers to him and his family. Saturday night will be the Moto x banquet, it will be at the Roost this year. You need to have been pre registered for your award. We have the new racing schedule and will post that next week. I think SFDR, Casey and Cross Roads are all different dates. I will be placing wood chips on the track next week, this will get riding on the track quicker.

12-17-09 Christmas is next Friday. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We are working on the banquet for the 2009 season. The banquet will be the same place as the last few year and will be Feb 6 2010. anyone that had 120 points will be awarded. This year the first place class winners will receive a large trophy similar to the overall  point winner in past years. These are expensive and we will only order them as we receive your registration to the banquet. Past years we have made trophies for everyone, and was not ever picked up. We will put this lost money into those who want there award. Also we are trying to finish the calender for the banquet, If you was a class winner we are trying to get pictures of you. There will be an action photo, and a face shot if you wish. I will post the names of missing photos tomorrow. We need this done by Jan 10. We attended the Dist 17 meeting last week and set our dates. South Fork, Casey, and Mason worked together to spread out the dates. None of us have heared about Factory Contingencies for this year, I hope there is not any changes, but every one is feeling a pinch. The FCA moto x school will be July 5-9 always a great time. Can register now at Jim Feagans 522-7575.   Merry Christmas from Terry and Leroy. And all the South Fork gang.

11-03-09 As many of you already know, Pam Wentzel the mother of Alex Wentzel one of our racers here at South Fork, passed away on Saturday morning.  Pam her husband Phil and Alex have been part of our racing family for many years.  Pam was a great woman and a wonderful mother to Alex and very supportive of him and his racing.  She will be greatly missed by all.  Please keep Phil and Alex in your prayers as this is obviously a very difficult time for them.  The services are as follows:  Visitation is from 5-8 on Wednesday and the funeral will be at 11am Thursday.  These will be held at Hough Funeral Home 512 E Broad St  Raymond. Il

10-31-09 Sat evening. Just finished the track for tomorrow, It has turned out better than our last race. Bikes have been on it all afternoon. It is drier than most of our normal races when we water. See you Sunday. River is high not good for trail riding.

10-31-09 Sat morning, Happy Halloween. Believe it or not the track is in fair shape. I have rode around with the mule and did not sink in. I had the track packed last Sunday after day riders. There is about 6 places I will put wood chips on first. The track will be closed until about 1 pm .  We are going to have our final dist 17 motox for the season tomorrow Nov 1. Chad and Charlie is going to Wis. to a football game. The quads need to be here at 8;30. And will be put in rotation with the bikes. This will help since we are short handed and will practice before the smaller bikes to insure a smoother track for them. Practice will be A-B/C-D/85/Quads/65/50/A-B/C-D The weather looks nice, hope you will join us. If you won your class we will need to get a face picture for the calendar, and if you have an action photo you want us to use bring a copy or let us know where to get it. Be safe and watch for kids tonight

10-23-09 Friday, had a lot of rain last night. Sat will not be a good day for riding, the river is coming out of it’s banks. The track has been pulled in and packed. There is no standing water and I can walk on it without sinking in. Sat would still not be a good day for the track but Sunday looks promising. Best to call ahead this time of year. We have heard from a lot of quad riders that miss riding the track. Quad day riders will be allowed back on the track, still undecided about quad moto x back on the track next season. Open 7 days a week, unless after large rain events. We will be here sat and sun.

10-10-09 Sat morning, The sun is shining. It Terry and I’s 39 anniversary today, next year will be our 40 0n 10-10-10. We have had the sides pulled in on the track and hard packed before the rain. 9-27-09 Sunday. It has been a beautiful weekend, this is my favorite time. We have the quad track usable and are having a lot of people riding on it. We have been trying to build a quad track and a bike track for moto x. The quads are excluded from the old track but we have let the bikes on the new quad track. There has been complaints this is unfair. We can tell this change will make the bike track much easier to maintain, also cut out about 2 hours on race day. Bikes and quads need two different  tracks. We ask you to try the quad track and if it is not satisfactory we will look at your opinions and try to improve. As of 9-28 no bikes will be allowed on the quad track. I will build a flat track this week east of the tt track . I want to build a extreme quad track for spring of next year for utilities. If you have suggestions that wont get someone killed for a design let me know. I honestly look at South Fork as your park, and I will do my best to provide what you like. But please remember, safety, being practical, affordability. In our plans for next year is a basketball court, kids play area, bmx track for pit bikes racing also, finish all the building we have started, and areas for gathering and just relaxing. Looking forward to next year already I hope to hear from you. Leroy 217-237-4752

7-13-09 Monday morning, and Terry and I just came to the park. We both noticed how clean It was. After the FCA camp last week, and near 500 racers over the weekend. There is almost no trash on the ground. The barrels are full. I hope you know how much that is appreciated. The barracks where the kids stayed is spotless and no damage. Quads don’t forget about the race on Sat. Roy Reed from Mo is having a TT race on the new track. And will be having a Nat event there Aug 29. Again thanks to all who visited us this past week. Leroy

7-9-09 I just had to get back online.  There are 6 huddles of campers and they are doing karaoke. The group that Andrew Short is with did you give love a bad name, and Andrew and couple other kids came out dressed in drag. They had the whole group dying laughing. Every one took pictures. Can you imagine a top moto x pro hanging with these kids. These guys are great people. Watch out for this on u-tube tomorrow.

7-9-09  It is about 9 p.m. and the kids from the FCA camp is coming back in for ice cream Sundays before bed. It has been a very fun week. A lot of track time with Andrew Short, Justin Sipes and Jim Povolny. After track practice there was swimming then dinner. No one had a problem sleeping. Andrew has to leave on Friday but Jim Povolny is staying for the Midwest best series race with Kawasaki contingencies on Sunday. Don’t forget we are racing on Saturday with the Fca campers and Sunday with dist 17 bonus points and Kaw cont. This is two separate races with points for each day. If you are close on points it will be a good weekend to build more. Kyle Corman will be with us, he was a instructor during camp, he did great at Red Bud. So there will be great racing action Sat & Sunday. There is a chance of rain but looks scattered. We have put a lot of the old mulch on the track last week and it has seen a lot of riding this week, You will find a fantastic track even with a little rain, we have to water anyway. The trails are finally drying up and the other riding is open. When you go onto the south riding area please do not go past the fence, this is our neighbors and he will prosecute. If we don’t make him mad we may some day be able to cross him to get to a lot more riding area. Enjoy your summer, the next holiday is Labor Day then winter, Enjoy  Leroy

6-25-09  Summer is here. We have been finishing up the bathrooms in the barracks for the FCA camp, Jim Feagans believes this camp will have the most pros ( Moto X and Free Style) of any camp ever. I think he said this morning there is 5 spots left so it is going to be an exciting camp. We have not worked the track since last weekend but will if it rains tonight. The river is going down and I hope will be in the banks by the weekend. We have received some applications for the Ponca National, if you are going we will send you one. I think all who raced the two qualifiers is eligible, good luck to everyone. The park will be closed to day riding the week of 7/6 to 7/10 for camp and a Big Sat and Sun moto x race, Dist 17 bonus points on Sunday and Kawasaki Contingencies. That always brings out a lot of racers after a part of $83,000 or our guaranteed pay back. Ride safe. Leroy

6-19-09  There is a lot of rain around the area today so we have pulled in the side of the track and hard packed it with our roller. We will have practice tomorrow Sat and our last ponca qualifier on Sunday. There is Kaw contingencies also and Midwest Best points race all on Sunday. Again lots of money up for A racers and Kaw Cont for B & C. The FCA camp is coming up soon just heard today several free style Pros are coming also. Don’t over look Kevin Windham, Andrew Short, Ryan Sipes, Justin Sipes and Kyle Corman as Instructors. Have been working on TT Track between rains and trails, still lots of mud on trails. Looks like it might dry up next Week. Lot of excitement coming up starting this Sunday. Leroy

6-5-09  Hey the rain has let up, we are prepping the track for practice tomorrow. Chad just said it is going to be great Sat and Sun. Last week there was 19 open A racers 8 had pro cards, you know that was some good racing. Open A we pay $250 to win and guaranteed  8 places. With Suzuki and Kawasaki contingency, that could be $500 for a first place win. From the calls it looks like another great race this Sunday. Number 3 of the four Ponca Qualifiers, Suzuki and Kaw Cont, Midwest best #4 and don’t forget the free Popsicles. 13 of the 19 open A riders was on Kaws. The river is down finally and we are going to try to open the other part of the park, I have been working on the trails, also the TT track for the Quads is shaping up. There will be a Quad tt race next Sunday the 13. The promoter is Roy Reed from Missouri, He will also have a National here in Aug. Built the walls in the Barricks for the Bathrooms. Chris Wallace can now finish roughing in the plumbing. FCA camp is looking to sell out with Kevin Windham, Andrew Short, and Ryan Sipes as instructors. Hope you can Join us in the near future, LEROY

5-30-09  Had a light shower this morning. Track worked up good for practice. Have been putting on water to be ready for tomorrow. From the calls it looks like it will be exciting Moto X racing tomorrow. River going down but muddy in woods. Great money offered with Kawasaki and Suzuki Contingencies, $250 to win open A paying 8 places. Ponca city Qualifier, and Midwest best series. In the Series we are counting your top 7 races for points.

5-29-09 it is Friday again. We are Chisel Plowing the track and pulling the sides in. We are going to pack it manly to hold in the moisture. There is a prep practice tomorrow. It will be $20 to practice on Saturday No charge to members. No quads will be allowed on the track Sat unless you have raced with us or sign up for Sunday Moto X. I am laying out a new Quad track and bikes will be on the old track and Quads on there own new track. The two types of tracks are different, and this should be better for both, also race days will be cut by at least two hours. We will be working on trails ASAP it is another wet spring, the river is down but not completely in the banks yet. There is trails open but not what I would like. There is a chance of rain Sat but the track will be prepped to handle it without being muddy Sunday. Any Questions   Call 217-237-4752  Leroy

5-15-09  Friday, It has been another wet week. We are lucky today so far no rain. Some one from Quincy just called and said they have gotten 2.5 inches the last hour. The boys have pulled the sides of the track in and rolled it hard packed, even if we get some rain still today we will be good for practice tomorrow and racing Sunday. The river is way up so I do not recommend us for trail riding this week end. To be safe always call first before a long haul 217-237-4752  Leroy

5-3-09  Sunday, It has been another wet week here and the river is again high. There is several riders on the moto x track. It is not in perfect shape but 80%. If the rain will stop long enough I will be adding a lot of mulch this week to prepare for our first Moto x race the 17, We have a Hare Scrambles next Sunday so we will be also preparing for that. I know you all are tired of a mud race so we will work to make this event enjoyable. The pipe line left a lot of wood mats they used in wet areas and we will put them where needed. Thanks to Chris Wallace, He has started the Plumbing in the barracks for this years FCA camp. Last year the campers had to use the showers and bathrooms across the street. The barracks will have there own facilities this year.I hope you can appreciate all the work to try to keep up and if it wasn’t for a lot of you the riders we be in trouble. I hope you all know you are very much appreciated. LEROY

4-22-09 Wednesday 3:00 pm I just finished working the track an it is perfect. I will work it again for Thursday. There is an AMA hare scrambles on Sunday, The trails will be closed to day riding, But the Moto X track will be open to day riding. Weather is looking great for the weekend hope you don’t have to work. LEROY

4-21-09  Great news from the FCA camp. As you may know the FCA motox camp was a great success last year, and the RED BUD Moto x National is the week before this years camp. Confirmed for this years camp is Kevin Windham, who was a great instructor last year. Also Andrew Short, also very active with FCA. And Ryan Sipes. We at South Fork are already very busy to make this week even better. We are finishing the bathrooms at the barracks, and the new shower house. We have placed a pontoon boat on the pond, and will be making the beach larger. The camp was a sell out last year so don’t miss this years event. It is going to be unbelievable. Is it not great that these Pro’s will take the time to show there faith and support the sport they surly love. FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes )  LEROY

4-15-09  Tax day, Hope you will get lots of money back. I will work the track around noon on Thursday so it won’t dry out for the evening riding. It is mostly dry now. There is a chance of rain this weekend. I will work the track but not to deep on Friday. It looks like 30% sat and 40% sun. A friend of ours that has helped us a lot here a SFDR lost his 3yr old son suddenly on Monday. Nothing can express the sorrow the family endures at a time like this, just count your blessing today. We will be in and out on Sat and we are not sure who will be running the place. Hope you have a great week as temperatures rise and the sun comes back.  Leroy

4-11-09  It is a beautiful Sat morning, there are a lot of machines on the track. We spent about 3 hours on Thursday packing the track so it is coming around nice. We will be open on Sunday, if you want to ride before or after dinner. The river is way up so trail riding is limited. We almost are ready to move to the Roost with the concessions. As soon as possible we will begin moving rock onto the trails. Have a great Easter and see you soon. LEROY

4-03-09  Friday evening and it has been a beautiful day. There has been a lot of rain this week, so Terry and I went to Memphis to see Elvis’s Mansion. It was 80 and nice Wednesday. Mike and I have been working on the track to dry it out. It is now 5;00pm and it is looking like Sat will be OK for riding the track. I suggest that after 12;00 noon will be great. I will be stirring it until then. This year we are requiring the OHV permits on all vehicles on the property. We have less Motox and will be making more tracks and trail improvements. The trails are wet and rutted, there will be a lot of work to do as soon as it dries. We have over 800 tons of rock to place on the trails. WE are looking for a water truck if anyone knows of a FS that might be selling one. I thought the pipeline was going to help. Hope you had a chance to see the program last Sunday on CBS, we hope to put it on the web site to see or down load soon. Ben Lynn Did a great job and we thank him a bunch. Bikes are on the track now, and I will work it again before dark, have a great spring. LEROY

3-24-09  Don’t you hate it when your computer don’t work. Thanks to Kristie Jaeger we are back in business. The track has been seeing a lot of action. The trails are drying up. Matt and the national guard riders have been cleaning up the trails. We have been building a new concessions at the Roost, and will be moving everything up there asap. The river got a little to high last year, don’t want to do that again. We will be having the EDT ATV National again this year. The track is laid out and will be working on that also. The pipeliners are gone and we have acres of good rock parking. Went to an auction yesterday, a little trail 70 was being sold. Be careful on what you buy because you may not be able to get parts to repair. Hope you have went to the AMA site to send a message to your congressman to tell them how stupid this lead law is. Hope you can take the time to enjoy SFDR, still only $12 for a full day of riding. I plan to open the other property across the river this weekend. See you soon. LEROY

2-20-09 Friday It will not be long before the motors will be revving at SFDR. On a down note you should be aware of is our great minds in the government has stopped the sales of youth ATV and motorcycles to anyone under 13 or 85cc. The CPSC (the ones who stopped 3-wheelers) has caused this. Please contact senators Dick Durbin, and for now Roland Burris or John Shimkus. Tell them to change this stupid law that is now in effect. Check out the AMA website for more info. If this continues all youth racing will stop! I am no longer with the Pipeline and are making improvements for this season, the concession and sign-in will be at the Roost. A Mr. Reed from Missouri will be holding Flat Track Racing here this year, also a EDT National will again be here this year. We are putting wood chips on the track now for the spring riding season. Will close for now. Going to grade the ruts out of the track. Leroy

12-26-08 Friday after Christmas. Terry and I hope you all had a fun Christmas and is looking forward to the new year.

I have been busy working at the pipeline that is going thru IL. Terry, Charlie, Chris, and Mr. Feagans with the FCA has been setting our new dates for 2009. the FCA will have there moto-x school July 6-10 there will be moto-x racing on July 11-12 with Kawasaki contingencies. Kaw increased us to 10 dates this year. We expect to hold 7 at SFDR 1 at archview 1 at euro and 1 at the State Fair race. If anyone knows who is doing that this year please let us know. We have been in contact with the atv extreme dirt track series and will have a National here again in August. We had one a couple of years ago and glad to have it come back to SFDR. We have installed several full service campsites by the Roost, water, elec. & sewer for this year. The high water has made us decide to move the concessions up to the roost. We will also carry more needed items in our parts. Many dealers are angry that we even have parts on site, but they are not open or available all the time. The pipeline yard is closing down, and that area will become parking and additional elect camping. They have put over $300,000 in rock down plus a lot of electrical improvements. We did not like taking that out of your riding area last year but it will now provide years of great benefits. The banquet this year will be Feb 7 we will send cards out soon. Also we have been fortunate to meet Ben Lynn he is a professional camera man for CBS. He has filmed the State Championship race and many hours around SFDR. There will be a half hour program on CBS March 29, at 7:30 am before the super cross race at 10;00. This is filmed in HDTV and looks great. If you are interested in helping sponsoring this program Ben will send you a copy to view and all the details. I know we cancelled some dates last year because of our working else where but it was necessary to continue the improvements you will see for 2009. Have a happy Holiday Season. Leroy

10-26-08  Sunday. A nice sunny day. We cancelled a AMA hare scramble today, and have cancelled a make up MotoX for next Sunday the first of Nov. The park is open as usual for trail and track riding. A professional cameraman has been recording the State race we had in Sept, and shooting the park. He has operated a camera at many TV events you have watched, including the Indy 500. He and others are making a program that will air the end of march on the Champaign TV- Station-CBS before a Super Cross race. It is in HDTV format and it looks great. More information coming.  Chad, Charlie and I have been fortunate to be employed by the pipeline until spring, that is why we have cancelled some events. Been putting in lots of hours, over 90 a week. One day last week 21 hrs in day.  A lot of people think this park is State Owned and Supported.  Not so, we wish to keep a quality park standard and find this additional income helpful. We will have our annual banquet, and make adjustment in points needed to receive awards. As weather permits, come on out and enjoy what’s left of fall. Enjoy the upcoming holidays. Leroy

10-12-08  Sunday, A lot of trail riders today. Tomorrow is Columbus Day. The park will be open for those who want to ride. We are still open 7 days a week. We may start closing tue-thur later this year. We have always held our appreciation next weekend. Casey moved there date this year to that weekend, and that is there bonus day Sunday. Insurance went up again, so we are canceling next weekend. No use splitting racers. Thanks for your loyalty, but enjoy next week at Casey. We will have our final race November 2. We will do something special then. Hare Scramble Oct 26, last this year. Please spread the word, no MotoX at SFDR  Oct 18-19. Leroy

10-10-08 It is Friday the weather is perfect for riding. Today is Terry and I 38 wedding anv today going to dinner this afternoon. Trails are finally dry after flood. Several people coming to camp this weekend. Open riding only, no racing. Gas prices are 3.19 a gal. That’s good to see again. Come on down for a day of good cheap fun at SFDR. A friend and neighbor lost his son to a motorcycle accident this week. 17 year old came out of a trail onto the road without a helmet, and was hit by his uncle. Helmet may or may not of helped. Remember to think safety while enjoying your ride. Your family has a lot to go thru if you get hurt or otherwise. Sorry for lecture. Time to enjoy nature. Leroy

9-30-08  Received a good rain yesterday. I will be working on the track as soon as I can. The track will be closed to quads all week including Sat. They will race Sunday. We have canceled the race for Sat, and  the track will be open riding for bikes only. We will be building a separate track for Quads and if you would like to make suggestion on lay-out that will be great. We have tried to allow riding on the track daily only  to have some rider be upset when it is not perfect. Most tracks only have a few days each month that allow their  track to be ridden so as to prepare. Quads and bikes like two different styles of tracks, safety will be improved, race day will be shorter. Next year we will only offer racing on Sundays. This allows for more non racers to enjoy SFDR more often. More effort will be placed on trail improvements. The FCA will be back next year. We have added dates by Kawasaki, and hope to work with the IL State Fair race with contingency next year. Any comments can be made to us or the Pro Staff on the Home Page. See you soon. Leroy

9-23-08  Great news for the moto x racers. We just opened the race contingency letter from Kawasaki for 2009. The FCA Midwest Best series will have 10 dates and $86,250 for Kawasaki racers next year. Thank you for racing this series these past two. Sue at Kaw has been great. And without your participation this would not have grown. The number of green machines we see racing has also grown. Thanks for all the e-mails about the State race last weekend a lot of people helped and we are spreading your e-mails to them also. I know we have talked a lot about racing lately and not about trail riding. The State race is something you don’t get often, and trail riding slows down mid-summer. As soon as the woods dry we will be busy on these trails.  A lot of work still left from Ice storm And high water

9-22-08  I have been working on the track today, still to wet to work trails. River should be back in its banks by weekend but, woods dry slower. Moto x track open for riding this weekend also. Weather should be good, nice time to camp out and watch a camp fire. Trap shoot Sat & Sun for 10-18 boys and girls to women any age. Every thing free with IDNR instructors, total 50 both days, call for details. Track is in good shape tomorrow, still moist

9-21-08  3:00pm   We are into our second set of moto’s. there was a chance for rain earlier, but missed. There is 400 racers at the Dist 17 State Championship today. Every-one received a free t-shirt and plaque. Having a great time no major injuries. Thank you all for believing in us to provide a good race week-end for you. SFDR has a lot of friends that help put the place back together after the flood, and we thank you all. Trail riders we hope to have the trails good for you by next weekend. We along with quail unlimited and IDNR will be holding a wing shooting clinic  on Sept 27-28. boys and girls will shoot 28 ga shotguns at clay birds on Sat and women included on Sun. there is no charge for this training, one instructor per 4 students, every safe. Meals included. If you would like to be in this class call me at 217-237-4752. Leroy

9-20-08  9:45  Practice is finishing up, getting ready to race. Largest Saturday turn-out ever. Lot of good comments about track, riders like the changes, great track conditions. Good problem now will be parking. Woods still wet or under water. Lite mist last 20 minutes look like that will be gone soon. Looks like a great race setting up for the State Championship tomorrow, hope to see you here. Leroy

9-19-08   8;30 pm   lots of racers are here, no complaints, anyone who was here a few days ago cant believe how good everything is. Again the woods is flooded, not good for day riding. We will change the track a little for Sat. but will run  as usual for Sun. We will have Two ambulance crews on duty for Sundays race. To avoid delays. We have free t-shirts for each racer Sunday also every racer receives a State Championship Plaque. Weather forecast is good, the track will be great,  as the front page shows we have been watering tonight. Hope to see you this weekend. Leroy

9-19-08 11;00am  As you may know we have the State Championship race this weekend. Also a Dist 17 race Saturday. We have received a large amount of rain, one place up stream had 8 inches. This water came up fast and has went down fast. Some people that seen the high water  thinks no way. But since the water is down there is a lot of work going on by many friends to make a good weekend. We contacted the public health about the high water and they just inspected the bathrooms and concession and did pass inspection. The parking lot is dry and the track is dry, the starting gates is wet and we will use a different start.  The weather is near perfect forcast for this weekend. The woods is still flooded and trail riding is limited. We will post pictures after noon. Leroy

9-18-08 Thursday, We have not been answering the phone for a couple of days due to high water. We have had the worst

flooding ever. The water is droping fast .  There is a lot of work already done this morning, and getting ready for the State Championship race this weekend. We have cancelled practice this evening so we can work the track. Trail riding will be limited this weekend because the woods will still have standing water. Will write again tomorrow. Leroy

9-5-08 Friday, Sorry to take so long to update, had problems with kidney stones. Was out of commission for a while. We have been working on the track for the upcoming Dist 17 State Championship on Sept 21. Some of the loose dirt got to muddy with the rain yesterday, so we have cancelled racing for Saturday. The track should be good by noon and will be open for riding. I just think it will be to wet for good racing in the morning. We will close the track at 5:00 pm to get ready for Sunday. Trails are open but expect mud in the woods.  Have fun at school

7-13-08 Sunday, Track is full of racers going for the Kaw & Suzuki factory money. It is a beautiful day for anything. Just got an e-mail that Zachary Loehr will be going to Lorettas also. I have watch him grow the past 8 years along with Jake and these guys have great promise to do well, good luck.

7-12-08 Saturday, It is now 5;27 the doplers have the rain chances past us, we on received a sprinkle. I know there has been a lot of rain the past couple days but we are good to race tomorrow, Sunday. We had packed the track so most water ran off yesterday. There is factory contingency money from Suzuki and Kawasaki at tomorrows race plus the usual large “A” racer payout. I have not posted much for several weeks, If you visit us you will see why. There is a new block shower and bathroom building at the top, near where you sign in also the barracks building was used this past week for the FCA camp. Kevin Windham, Sara Whitmore were great with everyone took all the time with the kids they wanted even went swimming with them after doing a shaving cream hair-do contest, watch for these pictures in your favorite MotoX mag.  Will start spending more time on track and trails now that building can slow down. Good luck to Todd Sheedy and Jake Smothers at Loretta Lynn Nationals, Let me know if you also made it so I can post your successes. Hope to see you soon, Racing or trail riding. Have a good summer. Leroy

6-21-08 Saturday, They just finished the Hare Scramble course for tomorrow. Several of the course markers claim it is the best ever. There is a little of every thing, we are staying away from muddy areas. The new side is being used and will be open to day riders after tomorrow. The course is about 8 miles and we expect 20-25 lap times. There is a rolling check at the far point. This is our bonus point race and expect a large turn out. Reminder only the motox track is open for day riders most of tomorrow also an OHV sticker is required for Hare Scramble racers that is $11 per bike, this money goes to open parks and riding areas. Other riding areas this is good for is Casey, Little Egypt, an Atkinson. So if you have already bought one from there you are good to go other wise please plan on acquiring one.

6-13-08 Friday, be careful what you wish for, The rain on 5-30 was 3 inches in one hour, rained us out all weekend. Has been real wet the past two weeks, getting some better, trails are muddy, track will be good for moto x this weekend. We have races sat and sun. we have a construction company using the flat track area so it is closed. I will be making a practice area next week to replace it. Barricks coming along great, roof on doing drywall this weekend, still some opening for FCA camp. Hope you all have a great  Fathers day Sunday.

5-30-08 Friday, hoping for some rain to settle dust and add water to track. The motox track is in great shape for this weekend, Chad, Charlie and Ronnie has worked with it most all day. It is chiseled deep for good lines, then harrowed smooth, a little water and that’s the ingredients for a great race weekend. The weather is clear for the weekend, not like last. The FCA camp is selling quickly, a lot of out of state people want to learn from Kevin Windham & Travis Preston. The trails are open and drying out, we will open the added trails next week, I have to remove down limbs and replace some fence. Come join us for a great weekend

5-23-08 Friday, just got a little rain. We have had several pro ATV racers staying these past 2 weeks and the track was very hard packed. With this rain I have chiseled the track deep to let it soak in and will rework in the morning, It will be in great shape by 9 am. Tomorrow there will be several volunteers helping put up the FCA barracks, should go quickly, come watch or help? Have a good holiday weekend, if you can take time come ride! Next Motox May 31-June 1

5-14-08 Wednesday evening.  It is starting to look like spring, if the rain will slow down now. WPSA is no longer, so the race is cancelled for this weekend.  I will be working the track for Thursday night after 4, and this weekend both days. Looks like good weather, also if you want to help pour concrete sat at 10 am or just watch, we are starting the barracks for the upcoming FCA camp.  On memorial weekend several people have offered to help raise the building, hope to have it closed in couple days. Remember Kevin Windham & Travis Preston will be instructors at the camp July 7-11. There has been several Pro-ATV racers staying and riding this week from Walnut National, fun to watch them practice.

5-2-08 It is about 4 pm and we had some rain this morning, and they are calling for more tonight. I have packed the track and graded the sides to the middle. Right now it is moist down about 3 inches, we need more rain or we will have to water for tomorrows race. I will keep the answer machine updated thru the night for possible cancellations, but the track should be fine, We have a free sloppy Joe dinner Sat at 6pm. Sunday there is Kaw & Suzuki factory money and our normal large purse. Example if you won open A and got contingency that would be $600.00 factory pay’s back 5 places, open A  8 also you can qualify for ponca city national. Jim said he is getting lots of reservations for FCA camp, call him soon!

4-30-08   I just got off the phone with Scott O’Malley of the wpsa atv national and our fears of a cancellation of the series has been confirmed. Due to apparent expenses incurred during the first season, they cannot at this time continue. This does not mean we may not see a reorganized series in the future. I will miss the excitement of being apart of an ATV National and hope South Fork Dirt Riders can host an event for you in the future.

4-25-08   Hare scrambles, AMA on Sunday check web page for times. Moto x track will be open for riding during H/S. will be making changes on track when skid steer fixed. Trails drying out no rain yesterday, have not been able to open other 200 acres yet, some standing water. Still best to call 217-237-4752 before long haul. Will keep message current.

4-23-08   Weather getting better, river back in its banks. We will be having a hare scramble on Sunday so trails will be closed, Motox track will be open. Hare scramble is AMA so dist & AMA needed. Jim Feagans talked with Kevin Wind hams management yesterday and he still plans on being an instructor at the FCA camp in July7-11. He won super cross Sat.
